History
Established in 1966 as a California
nonprofit corporation. The college is governed by a Board of Regents.
Originally located in the community of Pacoima, it was established to
provide health education and training to individuals living in the San
Fernando Valley. In 1972 Casa Loma College began the Vocational Nursing
Program. As part of the College’s goal to expand its programs to other
communities, a second campus was opened in the Los Angeles area in 1989.
To support the increasing student population, the College’s main campus
relocated to a new facility on the grounds of UCLA/Olive View Hospital
in 1993. The College continued to expand in 1998 by implementing the
Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Training Program. The Valley
Campus relocated to Van Nuys in 1998 to become more centrally located to
the student population. In January 1999 the college began offering
Allied Health Seminars to include Medical Records Clerk, Activity Leader
and Restorative Nursing Assistant. In 2003 Casa Loma College again
expanded its course offerings by adding Emergency Medical
Technician-Basic, and Medical Assistant. 2004 saw the relocation of the
non-main campus to Hawthorne. Emergency Medical Technician-Basic was
temporarily discontinued early 2007 for curriculum redevelopment based
on new National Standards.
We are dedicated to helping individuals
realize their career dreams by offering a variety of career education
programs. Casa Loma College puts students’ interests first by educating
them for a career and getting them into the workforce as soon as
possible. The college is proud to have over 2,000 graduates who have
gone on to pursue careers in the nursing and health care fields.
Casa Loma College continues to broaden the scope of its programs
to remain current with the continuing changes in the areas of health
care, business and computer technology.
