VOCATIONAL NURSING (LVN)
As a licensed vocational nurse
you are
an important part of a healthcare team. Under the supervision of doctors
& registered nurses you will provide direct nursing care to patients
with a wide variety of illnesses. Your patients will be located in a
broad range of medical facilities. You will perform task including
administering medications, giving injections, monitoring patients'
diets, and checking vital signs. You will watch for changes in patients'
conditions and take necessary action. Licensed vocational nurses assist
in the diagnosis and therapy of the patients and aid the health team in
planning, implementing, and evaluating the patients' nursing care. The
combined academic and clinical training prepares the vocational nursing
student to take the National Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN) and become a
licensed vocational nurse in the State of California.

- 577 hours of theory
- 954 hours of practical clinical and lab
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Pharmacology
- Fundamentals of Nursing
- Medical Surgical 1-3
- Maternal/Child
- Vocational & Career Enhancement
- NCLEX preparation
Schedule / Hours:
Full time = 54 curricular weeks
(Both Campuses)
All the above exclude holidays, vacations & makeup times
Requirements:
- High school graduate or posses a GED certificate or equivalency
thereof.
Minimum age of 17.5 years
Pass the Standard Assessment Exam with a
score of 580 or higher
Pass the college's physical exam
Obtain a clearance on Consumer Background Report
Physically capable of performing
the duties of a vocational nurse
Proof of Influenza Shot
Selection Process:
The Applicants who have met all the Entrance &
Financial Aid requirements and have completed the admission process,
will be eligible for selection into the Nursing Program. Selection is
made on or before the 10th day of class and is based on attendance,
punctuality, attitude and participation, entrance exam scores and quiz
test scores. After the selection process has been completed the
remaining candidates may be placed on the list for the next available
class. |
